Reduced Interest Loans Through a grant from the USDA, Area Five has established a loan program. Up to $15,000 can be loaned to start-up or existing businesses at a reduced interest rate, currently 3%. Terms are flexible. These funds may be used for a wide range of business expenses as well as capital investments such land development, construction of buildings and parking lots, utility extensions, and technical assistance. Existing businesses that gross less than $1 million in annual sales and have less than 50 employees may apply. Start-ups may apply if they have completed the steps detailed in the start-up section of this website. To apply, existing businesses must submit financial statements and a two page business summary. Start-ups must submit their full business plan completed through Area Five's classes and financial documents including tax returns, personal financial statement, and cash flow projections.
