Small Business Planning and Management Course

The Business Planning and Management Course is made up of two parts. Before signing up for classes, you must attend a free orientation to learn more about the course and which section or sections are right for you. You must sign up before attending. After orientation, you will be able to sign up for the course. Upon completion, you will be able to apply for a reduced interest loan or for other resources.

Section 1 - Testing Your Business Idea

This business feasibility analysis is the first section of the two-part Small Business Planning & Management Course. This section will help sort out business ideas and covers four main areas:

  • Personal Issues: Are you ready to own a business?
  • Your Business Idea: Does it make good business sense?
  • Looking at Your Market: Does your idea make good market sense?
  • Financial Analysis: Does your idea make good financial sense?

This section will be beneficial to people who are "just thinking about starting a business," and those who want to analyze the feasibility of their idea.

Section 2 - Business Planning and Management

The business planning classes are the second part of the Small Business Planning and Management Course. This section will teach you how to better manage and grow your business by writing a business plan which can then be used as:

  • An operating guide
  • The basis of a strategic marketing plan
  • The basis for personnel and financial plans
  • A financing proposal

You should take these classes if you have completed the business feasibility analysis with a positive outcome and would like to move forward with your idea.

To sign up or for more information, contact Amy Beechy at SBI@areafive.com or by phone at (574) 722-4451.
