Start-up Businesses

A business is considered a startup if it is new or less than two years old. A new business purchase and a franchise will be considered a start-up as well. To be eligible for Area Five's business services and low interest loans, all start-ups must complete the Small Business Planning and Management Course. Upon successful completion of an approved business plan, you will be eligible to apply for the following:

·         Low Interest Loan: Up to $15,000 may be loaned at the current interest rate of 3%.

·         Targeted Assistance: Assistance with specific business issues.

·         Technical Assistance: Up to $1000 may be awarded in technical training funds.

·         Business Services Package: Discounts can be awarded at participating professional service providers and are retailers.

·         Mentoring: One on one support from a local business community member.
