| Weatherization The Weatherization Program provides the necessary services to make the homes of both renters and homeowners more energy efficient by up to 25%. Often these are simple services such as weather stripping, insulating, assessment of gas cooking stoves and refrigerators, furnace clean and tunes, and installation of more efficient light bulbs. If necessary, new furnaces, windows, or hot water heaters may be installed for clients who are homeowners. In accordance with state regulation, Area Five's Weatherization staff became certified through the Performance Building Institute of New York as building analysts, building technicians, and heating technicians. Supplementary training in furnace installations and inspections, lead-safe work practices and certification has also been attained.
