Helping us help others
Volunteers are caring individuals who are a key resource in fulfilling Area Five's mission. Area Five volunteers make a difference in the lives of our clients daily.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Senior Engagement Volunteer
The Senior Engagement Volunteer will support the activities and day-to-day tasks at the Senior Activity Center, fostering social interaction, recreation, and wellness for the older adults that call the center home. Volunteers are expected to assist in facilitating activities, offer friendly conversations, observe and communicate the needs of participants to the Senior Center Director, and play a part in improving the quality of life for our seniors. Schedule the hours that you would like to volunteer, from Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, no expected commitments.
Culinary Team Assistant
The Culinary Team Assistant will join Area Five Agency’s team of culinary experts in providing warm, delicious, and ready-to-go meals for our seniors serviced. Work in a kitchen setting with a kind-hearted team of individuals. Volunteers will play an essential role in preparing, handling, and ensuring the quality of nutritious meals served to seniors. Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, we work with your schedule to ensure that we are able to deliver top-quality meals to our seniors!
Resident Support Assistant
The Resident Support Assistant will assist Bend in the Woods staff in ensuring that the facility is well maintained, safe, and welcoming for all individuals who currently reside there. The volunteer may assist with outdoor maintenance – such as yard work, light landscaping, and cleaning up common areas – and occasionally assist residents with their basic needs around the property. Ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and want to directly improve the living environment for low-income families. Monday – Friday, anytime between 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Office & Clerical Assistant
The Office & Clerical Assistant will provide support in the main office of the Agency, including filing, preparing mailings, and organizing program supplies. The assistant may also be asked to arrange appliances in the facility, whether it is an interview room, cubicle, or supply closet. Volunteers help ensure the office runs smoothly, so that staff are allowed to focus on program delivery for our clients. Schedules will be agreed upon by the Volunteer Coordinator, and follow regular Agency operating hours.
Head Start Volunteer
The Head Start Volunteer will assist classroom staff in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool-aged children. Volunteers may support daily routines such as story times, class departures, or group learning activities. Encourage school readiness by promoting early literacy, social skills, and positive play. Volunteers may also help with classroom preparation, organization, and cleanliness. Schedules and final decisions on volunteer work will be agreed upon by Head Start staff, and background checks must be done before being allowed to assist the facility.

Our volunteers are an important part of the services Area Five offers. From support to public service, we have needs in many areas.
