Established in 1974, Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged members of North Central Indiana.

Current openings:

Meal Deliverer – Kokomo (part-time)
Assists with packaging and delivery of meals to specific individuals on assigned route. Cleans caddies after route delivery & helps, if needed, with cleaning the meal site. Observes while delivering for any unusual circumstances or changes in normal routine at participant homes and reports to site manager any observance that may be a matter of concern. Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults & have a valid driver’s license.

Administrative Support Worker – Logansport (full-time)
Essential duties & responsibilities include: Operating a multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls & direct them to appropriate departments, welcoming clients to determine nature of business and announce their arrival to appropriate personnel, maintaining familiarity with programs & activities offered by Area Five and being able to answer questions about the Agency and/or providing requested information to clients, data entry, opening & sorting incoming mail & preparing postage for outgoing mail, counting and recording money received daily, assisting with the usage of office equipment such as copy machines, postage machines, & fax machines, and other clerical duties as needed. Must be able to multi-task and bi-lingual preferred. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Substitute Kitchen Driver – Logansport (part-time)
Duties may include: delivering meals to the Area Five meal sites, delivering meals to the homebound clients and assisting in the kitchen. Vehicle provided by Area Five. Must have valid driver’s license.

WIC Coordinator Wabash & Miami Counties (Full-Time)
Supervisory responsibilities included. Manages and directs the WIC Program toward its primary objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. May be responsible for Breastfeeding Coordinator activities or other duties as assigned. Serves as a liaison to vendors, oversight of the WIC program, along with planning, implementing, and evaluating program objectives and activities. Travel is required between sites. Other duties as assigned and/or necessary to get the required job done. Education and/or Experience This person must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Nutrition, Administration, Public Health, or related field required. Previous experience in maternal and child health or public health nutrition, or medical setting preferred. It is advantageous for the local Coordinator to meet the qualifications of a Competent Professional Authority which includes the following: Qualified Nutritionist (R.D.) or Registry Eligible Dietitian (RDE) or Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Dietetics; Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences; Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition; Clinical Nutrition. Registered Nurse (R.N.) or Bachelor or Master's degree graduate which, through review of an official transcript for an accredited college, includes a study of nutrition. These degrees include, but are not limited to: Family and Consumer Sciences, Food & Nutrition in Business, or Nutrition, Fitness & Health.

WIC Competent Professional Authority (CPA) Wabash & Miami Counties (Part-Time)
Responsible for nutrition risk assessment, documentation, nutrition education, and participant centered services related to the administration of the Women, Infants, Children supplemental nutrition program. Qualified applicants must be an RN, BSN, RD, RDN, or possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with studies in nutrition. Excellent hours including no holidays or weekends.

Head Start Teacher Assistant – Logansport (full-time)
37.5 hours per week. Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor – Wabash & Miami Counties (part-time)
Excellent part time opportunity to help moms successfully breastfeed their babies! Hours include in-clinic hours and being available outside of clinic hours for moms needing extra help. Preferred applicants have experience breastfeeding, have participated in WIC, have good interpersonal skills, and reliable transportation. Experience with texting, social media, Excel, and Word is helpful.

EAP Client Service Specialist – Tipton (Temporary, Part-Time)
No supervisory responsibilities. Bi-lingual applicants are preferred for Cass County position; however, not exclusively. Individual is responsible for taking EAP applications, data entry, calculation of income, providing Energy Education and collaborative program duties as requested. Individual must have interpersonal skills which allow for effective communication between clients and utility vendors, while maintaining good organizational skills. Other duties as assigned and/or necessary to get the required jobs done. Please apply by October 30, 2020.

Head Start Teacher Assistant – Logansport & Rochester (part-time, floater)
Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Head Start Substitute Teacher Assistant – Logansport (as needed)
Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.
