Established in 1974, Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged members of North Central Indiana.

Current openings:

Grant Fiscal Administrator – Logansport (full-time)

This position assists with directing and coordinating the formulation, monitoring, and presentation of grant fiscal administration.  Develops operating grant/fiscal budgets for controlling funds to implement program objectives.  Prepares grant fiscal budgets based on organization's performance, estimated revenue, expense reports, and past budget numbers.  Reviews with grant administrators and Chief Financial Officer, operating budgets to periodically analyze trends affecting budget needs. Assists with developing and maintaining fiscal operating systems for Agency and grant oversight and performance review.  Assists with keeping records of financial transactions for the Agency and helps direct financial activities of the organization. Qualifications must include a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, fiscal management, or a related field. This position offers future growth and promotion within the accounting department.  Compensation based on experience.

Head Start Preschool Positions

Head Start Family Advocate – Rochester (full-time)

37.5 hours per week.  Must have flexible schedule due to home visits & parent groups. Duties include goal setting, with following up & providing resources and support of set goals; following up on referrals, goals, wellness requirements, absences, & support if needed; parent training through information & parent groups; documenting, filing and monitoring, etc.  This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Family Development Certification to be completed within agreed upon time.

Head Start Lead Teacher - Rochester (Full-Time)  

We're looking for someone to teach a Head Start preschool classroom in Rochester for kids ranging from 3-5 years old.  Full-time with benefits.  In addition to having an associate degree, must be reliable, patient, and caring.  Responsible for planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Pay depends on experience and education.

Assists the Lead Teacher in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Must be reliable, patient & caring with children ranging from 3-5 years old.  Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Substitute Head Start Food Server / Teacher Assistant – Wabash (Part-Time)

Serves meals to children during Head Start program by performing the following duties:  Monitor temperature of food and serve food according to the serving sizes noted on the menu. Take dishes, plates, & silverware to classroom for teachers. Fill silverware containers after each meal and check on these during service to assure that there are plenty of napkins for each classroom. Fill and sanitize bottles and test the water, and clean up the kitchen equipment. Give Teacher's Assistants and or Teachers a 10-15 minute break if possible. Help staff clean up classroom by washing tables and emptying trash cans if possible. Kitchen must be cleaned daily including, sweeping floor, emptying trash, wiping counter, cart, shelves, cleaning warmer and refrigerator, and washing dishes. Check and report supply needs daily. Fill condiment containers as needed so they are full for the next time. Fill all food service requests from the teachers and teacher's assistants. (i.e. seconds on food, silverware, napkins, salt, condiments, cleaning tables, and emptying trash cans that include food.) Check to see if the teachers need anything during meals. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Substitutes for our current Nutrition Site Manager as needed by facilitating the serving of the noon meal program. Duties may include: calling in meal reservations in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate documentation and money handling procedures, following proper portion control servings, etc. Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults & have a valid driver’s license.
